I hope that you are all enjoying a most wonderful weekend!!! We have had sunny weather...for the most part...for the last week or so with above freezing temperatures!! It sure feels good!!!
Today is the midway point at Simply Magnolia's "Flowers" challenge and in place of a sponsor Simply Magnolia is offering a Guest Designer spot for the winner of this challenge!! So let's see your flowery creations...add flowers, flower paper or a Tilda image with flower/s...now how easy is that!!
Once again...and in my ongoing quest to switch/clean up my crafting area...I decided to make another storage piece!! This way I get to play with all those lovely flowers...colour up a sweet Tilda...and then KEEP it...lol!!!
Here is what I came up with...
please click on the first image for a closer view/slideshow...
I started with a wooden suitcase that I bought from Michael's...
set some DP paper from My Minds Eye on the front and back with decoupage paste...
I sanded the edges...
I then painted the sides and edges with the aqua paint...
sponged gesso all around and on the front/back edges and sanded once again...
then I lightly sponged tea dye distress ink along edges...
time to decorate...
the after...
the before...
I added Shabby Pink Frantage to the latch...just to give it a "dressed" look...
the polka dot ribbon goes all around the box...
I finished the two ends with polka dot buttons...
then tied chiffon solid and polka dot ribbons on the handle...
this is "Rose Scent Tilda"...sorry I can't remember which collection...
I mounted her on a tag cut out using "So Wrapped Lovely Lace" Magnolia Doohickey from the SCL12 collection...
closer view...
I coloured her with distress re-inkers...
and applied some glitter and tiny white dots...
I tried to go without a stick pin...it just happened...lol...
view of the inside painted and then stenciled with Tim Holtz stencil and gesso...
And that is my project for this Midway Reminder at Simply Magnolia "Flowers" challenge!! You should see what my talented teamies have to show you so hop on over to Simply Magnolia and check out their beautiful "Flower" creations...then join us for a chance to win a GDT spot!!
