Say Happy Birthday with a Sewing Box Card/Gift!!

Almost the end of February...WOOHOO!!

Maybe Spring is just around the corner...we can only HOPE!!

Today I would like to show you a birthday card/gift that I have made for a friend.

I was so intrigued by the "Sewing Room + A Tilda Image" challenge at Totally Tilda and the "Beautiful Buttons" challenge at Midweek Magnolias...they fit perfectly together don't you think...that I decided to make my friend a card that is a sewing kit and will double as storage for my gift to her of goodies to make her own creations!!!

So here is what I came up with...
please click on the first image for a full screen view...
I started by covering a Maya Road sectioned box with a book type fold...
I sewed on some Magnolia paper with my sewing machine...
before sewing it on it was distressed with my Tim Holtz tool...
inked with Ranger Antique Linen...
sadly I didn't have the Tailor Tilda image...
so I used "Write a Message Tilda" from the Lost and Found 2014 Collection...
and wrote the "Sew glad" message in the slate...
I didn't have any buttons that I was happy with so I used some plain white ones and covered them with Shabby Pink Frantage...
I wanted to make this similar to a sewing kit so I made the cover with button fasteners and seam binding loops attached to the side of the box...
added flowers, measuring tape ribbon, scissor charm and three mini spools wrapped with embroidery floss...
this is the "sewing kit" open...
the loop closures on the right side...
the inside of the box inked with Antique Linen then covered with cardstock and Magnolia paper...
on the left side is "Tilda with Wrapped Heart"... not sure but I believe she's from the Little Christmas 2012 Collection...
I didn't have a dress mannequin die or stamp...can't believe that in all the stuff I have I couldn't find anything like it so I made one by hand and added three buttons...
the sewing machine is a free download image that I inked up...
the sentiment is computer generated and sewn together...
I added a tapestry needle (end isn't sharp) and some embroidery floss, two more Frantage covered buttons, seam binding bow and some lace with pearls to cover up a booboo...LOL!!!...
a closer look at the box with the seam binding loops...
inside covered with paper...
I will place all the goodies that I have for her in the sections of the box...
a closer look at the Tilda, sewing machine image and dress mannequin...

Well that is "sewing kit" card/gift...I had SO MUCH FUN making this!!!

  18. Beth, your oh so creative projects always turn into works of art. So many beautiful details, so much to look at and enjoy. This must have taken you hours, and your friend is going to love all the attention to sewing details you added to this sweet sewing box. Tilda images are darling and papers are lovely. The tape measure, buttons, scissors, sewing needle all add to the beauty of the project, along with those gorgeous flowers. The Fran-tage is the icing on the box. So very pretty when put all together like only you can do!!! Just lovely.
