Midweek Magnolias-Challenge #112 "Masculine"

Well happy Wednesday dear bloggers!!

Today we begin another new challenge at Midweek Magnolias and our theme for the next two weeks is "Masculine"!!  As always our fabulous sponsor is Magnolia Sweden!!!

Now any of you who visit me often know how I cringe at the "masculine" style...while I admire everyone else's work I find myself struggling to keep the lace and frills from invading MY card!!  So I decided to do my four month old Grandson's birthday card REALLY early cause I get to at least make it cutesy right...lol!!  His birthday isn't until December...well heck for once I am WAY ahead of the game!!!

Here is what I came up with for our darling Max...
please click on the first image for a closer view/slideshow...
I made a simple 6x6 card base and added an "envelope" as the decorative part...
I used both sides of double sided paper by "imaginisce"...
it's called "Twitterpated-Mushroom Fancy"...
folded over the top flap...added a brad and fibre to keep it down and curled over one of the top corners...just for a little bit of flair...lol...
and at the bottom are buttons with fibre through the holes...
this is "Little Cute Edwin" from the Special Moments 2013 collection...
I masked him on Magnolia "Mushrooms with Snail"...sorry can't remember which collection...
coloured with my distress re-inkers...
I just had to add a touch of Chunky White Frantage!!...
"Happy Birthday" is a new die that I just got from Frantic Stamper Inc...
they cut like a dream!!!...
thanks America for putting me onto them...
and the inside...
"Happy Birthday" once again...
the matts (also the one that Edwin is stamped on) are Go Kreate #360028 & #120021...

Well that is Mr.  Max's first birthday card done!!  Now for experts on the masculine style you really need to check out the fabulous inspiration that my Midweek Magnolias teamies have in store for you!!

All materials are listed and/or linked above.

Until next time...thank you for taking the time to stop by!!  Your visits and comments are SO very much appreciated!!!

  2. Totally understand how you feel about making a masculine card Beth, especially when we have to hold back the urge to add frilly embellies. You did an awesome job making this BD card for your grandson, beautiful coloring and design. Have a great week!

  3. Seriously Beth...you are such a great card maker! If it's frilly or masculine you can do it! I love the colour choice of orange and blues!
You have always loved working with distress inks, and it shows! I love the chunky white frontage...it just finishes it right off and you finishing the inside...PERFECT!
