Another Birthday Card!

Can't sleep...so I came down to make my second daughter-in-law's birthday card!   My two daughter-in-laws birthdays are days apart.

Well now I have all my August and September birthday cards done!!

This is what I came up with...

The card style is very simplistic...

this is Primrose Polly...a Sherri Baldy Bestie...
coloured with my prismas...
I went with a cream and pink theme for the Wild Orchids challenge
...oh and Frantage of course!!

Well that's the card!  I will enter this card into One Crazy Stamper's birthday challenge as well as Wild Orchid Crafts pink and cream theme challenge.

Materials Used:
DP-docrafts Papermania (Lucy Cromwell)
Flowers, crown pins, baby's breath and flower gem embellishments-Wild Orchid Crafts
Frantage Embossing Powder-Stampendous

Paper supplies, frantage and stamp are available at One Crazy Stamper as well as the Spellbinders Vintage Labels One used for the inside sentiment.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!!  Have a wonderful long weekend!

Quinn's Birthday Card

Finally Done!!

Well...I finished up my Grandson Quinn's 1st Birthday card...and I'm a few days early!!

Yes...our darling boy turns one on Friday!  Hard to believe that he is almost a whole year old!!

First of all let me say that I find working on male cards a HUGE challenge...no bows, lace or flowers...UGHH!!  But hey that's what Frantage is for and believe me I used a ton of this stuff (and maybe a teeny bit of glitter)...LOL!

So here is what I came up with...

The style I used is a form of the easel card...
the front scalloped circles are put together to form a circular "3D box"...
stamp is "Angel Cody" from Whimsy Stamps...
  the sentiment (computer generated)...
the card opened to show both front and inside

Well that's our "Angel Quinn"'s 1st Birthday card...whew glad it's done!!  Now we have a party to prepare for!

I will enter this card into One Crazy Stamper's birthday challenge.  The challenge this month is "Birthday Cards" as it is Lora's birthday today!  Happy Birthday Lora!!  Hop on over to Lora's on-line store for a birthday sale!  FYI...most of my supplies were purchased from the birthday girl's store!

Materials Used:
DP-from my stash (so old I have no idea who makes it)
Spellbinders-Grand Scalloped Circles, Grand Circles and Labels Fourteen
Frantage Embossing Powder-Stampendous (shabby blue)
Ribbon & Buckle-also from my stash

Thank you once again for stopping by!!

Gurus-Post #2

Good Stormy Monday Morning!

The Gods are having a grand old game of bowling this a.m.!!  I'm just hoping I can get through this post before our power goes out again!

Today it's time for Guru post number two and coincidently I need to talk about two ladies!  I was hoping to keep this alphabetical but may need to fudge (one of Christine's favourite expressions) a bit today as I also need to follow a time line...that being said these two ladies share the same initials...just reversed!!  So for those who haven't yet crossed these talented ladies' paths I would like to introduce you to Dena Concienne and Christine Dol!  They are my "Prisma Gurus"!!

Christine Dol is not only one of my "Gurus" she is also a dear friend!  Christine has been encouraging me for years now not to "fear"  my prisma pencils.  I have taken many a class with this lady (both at One Crazy Stamper and Stampingbella) and found her teaching style well balanced...with both instruction and encouragement front and centre in her classes!  Christine's work shows her NATURAL talent for colour combinations and imagination...and her colouring is simply SUPERB!  Her support and encouragement has pushed me to strive for ...well just...more!

Dena Concienne...all I can say is WOW!!!  I first became aware of Dena through visiting Christine's blog.  I cannot tell you how BEAUTIFUL her work is...you will have to visit Dena's blog.  Dena has a TRUE talent for all that she tackles!!  I get so excited and INSPIRED when Dena posts her work!!   Dena is teacher extraordinaire at The Art Studio (having trouble linking this) which you can visit/sign up for through her blog.  I have purchased both of her Prisma colouring classes and just recently Dena's distress ink class (can't wait to get on with this class) and must say that these classes are well structured and VERY informative!!  The classes combine PDF files and videos for unlimited use!   FYI...when Dena says during her classes to e-mail her with questions, she truly means it!!

So today I would like to show you my daughter-in-laws birthday card made using my Prismas (not so dreaded anymore...starting to get more comfortable).  I still need practice but I'm getting there...

This is Ava...a digital image purchased from Saturated Canary
...card style is a mix of matchbook and tent fold
...Dena uses this little cutie in her Prisma classes
...I have followed Dena's class instructions (except Deco Pink colour, shading and glitter)

...and these metal embellishments are new at Wild Orchid Crafts
( I'm so excited about these)!!

So that ends my second Guru post...I still need lots of practice (not sure if the shading was a good idea) but with the encouragement and support of both of these TALENTED ladies maybe someday I'll be able to colour as BEAUTIFULLY as they do!!

Materials Used:
DP-Prima Sun Kiss collection
Embellishments-Baby's breath (white coloured with Distress Ink Stormy Sky), crown pins and metal embellishments from Wild Orchid Crafts

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!!

Shaped Card/Baby Shower Card

Good Friday Evening!

Well I'm back...but not with my Grandson's birthday card!

I was visiting Suzi's wonderful blog and saw that there was a challenge at the Midweek Magnolias blog called Shaped Cards.  As I had to do a shower card anyway I thought that I would get this done first and enter it into the challenge!!

Here is what I came up with...

Gift from Heaven Tilda - Special Moments 2013 collection
...Special Delivery from the same collection
 ...the card closed

I used Spellbinders Grand Labels Four and made it into a twisted easel card.

I first saw this style of card on the FABULOUS Norma Lee's blog and have used it with many different shapes!!  It has become one of my favourite styles to use!

Materials Used:
Magnolia stamps - Magnolia-licious store
Colouring - copics
Paper - Lili of the Valley (Promises)
Flowers, pearls, crown pins, babies' breath & heart shaped doilie - Wild Orchid Crafts
Frantage embossing powder (pink & blue) - Stampendous

Well that is it for this evening!
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by!  I do appreciate it!!

Multi Layer Card

Tuesday already!!
I have been challenging myself to not wait a whole week before posting again and am finding this very hard to do!!  Where does the time go??!!

I have been trying to work on several projects while doing all the daily things that life throws at us, so in keeping with the challenge that I have set for myself I went down to my craft room and pulled out a card that I have been working on for a while and "pumping it up" when an idea strikes!!

So for better or worse here is what I have to show you today...
 Above...the card while open
 ...closing the right hand flap
 ...closed but not tied
...the front cover flap opened up
 ...closed and tied
...and this is Whispy

Whispy is one of the first digital images that I purchased from Saturated Canary...I just had to have her...isn't she a GORGEOUS digi image!!

The paper that I have used is from the Princess Fairytale 6" X 6" paper pack by Dovecraft.  I purchased this from Lora at One Crazy Stamper where I get much of my "stuff"!!

Ribbon, lace, pearls and butterfly embellishment is from my stash (not sure where I got them all as there is sooooo much lying around my room).  The butterfly die (3 in 1) is from Joy! crafts and was purchased from One Crazy Stamper.

I have not added a personalization as not sure who this will go to or if I want to keep for display!!

Well that is it for today...I hope to be back in a couple of days with my Grandson's birthday card!  A card finished on time or actually ahead of the game...imagine that!!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by...I do appreciate it!!

Gurus-Post #1

My first theme post!!
I have been thinking that my posts should have a theme...well maybe some of them as not all the crafting we do makes sense, it just makes us HAPPY!

So today I decided to start my "Guru" posts.  There are so many very talented crafters out there but some have really left a huge impression on me.  It is hard to choose who to talk about first so I decided to put it alphabetically...makes it so much easier!!

So...the subject of my first post is the VERY talented Vicki Boutin!!  You can find Vicki's work at vickiboutin.typepad.com.  My friend Dianne (my forever friend) and I have taken many a class from this wonderfully quirky and talented lady.  Vicki brings to her classes knowledge, humour and a great talent for bringing out the best in all of us!!  Vicki will forever tell you that there are no "mistakes" made during our crafting...or maybe we could call them "happy mistakes" or an "AHHA" moment.  From Vicki I have discovered a love for "Mixed Media" so I have applied what she has taught us over the years to a clip board and used my Tildas...yes I am obsessed with these little ladies!  Why the clip board?  Well, with it I can put more than one Tilda on and use mixed media to cover it...two for the price of one!!  I also thought that I could make use of it in my office but I got carried away with the "embellies"..so it just becomes a little piece of FUN!!  Maybe I can hold back on the embellishments on the next one!

So here is what I have...
Above and below...the entire clip board

Lilyrose the Dragon... from the 2012 Prices & Princesses collection
Wizard Tilda ...from the 2012 Princes & Princesses collection
 Curtsy Tilda...
the "embellies"...Magnolia Doo-Hickeys and flowers.. on the top corner...

and on the bottom!!

Well that is the clip board...so many pics as it was hard to get a good one of the whole project!

I am going to enter this into the Magnolia-licious "Anything Goes Challenge...that's if I can figure out how to "link"...LOL!!!

Thanks for stopping by and reading my first "Guru" post!!
