Guru Post #3 & Just Because Post #1

Well this post is my first "double duty" post as I am combining my third "Guru" post with my first "Just Because" post!

This project has been in the works since July...LOL!!!  I know... "What could possibly take that long??"

On June 20 of this year the AMAZING Norma Lee showcased her Ice Cream Parlour on her blog.  My friend Christine called me and asked if I had seen Norma's most recent post yet...when I saw the "Parlour"  it was love at first sight!!  We just had to do it!  So we asked Norma if we could tackle this project for ourselves and her answer was "Of course!"

Have you ever had someone ask you "Why are you doing this...What are you going to use it for?"  And my answer  is "Just Because"!!!  As fellow paper crafter obsessees you get it...LOL!!!

Now as for the "Guru" portion...Norma Lee is my "ALL AROUND GURU"!!  Norma's talent knows no bounds!  Her ability for combining colours, papers and embellishments...her colouring itself (SIGH)...and her handmade embellishments are OUTSTANDING!!  ADD to that her talent for measurements (pun intended)...she must be a mathematician...make Norma an OOBER (love that word) talent!!

So...Norma I thank you for all of your encouragement and sharing during this endeavor and for your continuing inspiration EVERY time that I visit your blog!!

Now for my adaptation of Norma's "Ice Cream Parlour"...

Ice cream cone is from Magnolia...the wording is computer generated...

Well that's the parlour!!

AND I have a use for it...my Granddaughters and I are going to start our own "Tilda Town"...I even told them they could make their own pieces for it...can I relinquish total control is the question!!

Can't you just imagine a "Tilda Horton's"!!!

Peaches!!

So...you are all thinking "Peaches????"

Here in Ontario our peach season is at it's end...so for the last few weeks I have been buying basket upon basket of them and making the filling for a family favourite...peach cobbler (from the FARM JOURNAL"S  COMPLETE PIE COOKBOOK-1965).  It freezes very well and it takes no time to make the topping and whip cream for a very yummy dessert over the winter months!!

So on Friday when I was taking a break from "peaches", having a quick bite (NOT PEACHES), while standing at the kitchen island and visiting some of my favourite blogs I dropped into Julie Price's.  Julie had blogged about her head exploding with "creative ideas" and I'm thinking "Creative ideas...my head is exploding with PEACHES!!"  Then the light bulb came on!  I thought..."Hummm...Christine does those wonderful recipe cards".  So I asked pretty please dear friend "May I borrow your recipe card idea???"

So thanks to Julie for turning on the light bulb and Christine for letting me "borrow" your recipe card idea!!

I have had in my head to do a recipe box for many years...the ones that I bought years ago were actually manufactured in 2005!!  The box is a  metal lunch pail with cards, dividers and sheet protectors inside by Basic Grey.

Here is what I came up with...
The recipe card sitting beside the decorated lunch pail...
this is Peachy Tilda (can't remember which collection...sorry) coloured with copics...

the lunch pail decorated with one of my favourite papers, tags, ribbons and pearls...
 a closer look at Tilda...
the tags decorated with dies and punches...

I stamped, coloured and cut out extra peaches because there just weren't enough!!!

I love bling sooo...the tags and ribbon just seemed to multiple by themselves!!

The recipe card doesn't match the box but that's because it will go inside!!

I will enter these into the Totally Tilda Challenge "Food, glorious food" and
Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge "Punches and Dies".

Materials Used on Recipe Box:
DP by My Minds Eye-Lost & Found by Jen Allyson (Blush Sweet Bouquet-two sided...I used both sides)
Metal Lunch Pail by Basic Grey (2005)
Ribbon & lace from my stash
Dies:  Tag, butterfly and dragonfly by Magnolia
Punches:  Small butterfly, large and small tag  by Marvy
Fern and leafy branch punches by Martha Stewart
String of pearls from Wild Orchid Craft
Gemstone brad and tiny pearls from my stash

Materials Used on Recipe Card:
DP by Graphic 45-Once Upon a Springtime (Primrose Cottage)
Dies:  Go Kreate-XXL Frames Frilly #1 and Frilly Square #1
          Cheery Lynn Design-Fanciful Flourish

Well...that exorcises the peaches from my head!!!

Thank you for stopping by...I really appreciate you taking the time!!
